- As part of China’s twice-per-decade Communist Party congress this month, Chinese leaders extolled their super-sized country as a provider of humanitarian and economic aid. The statements would appear to indicate that China will continue to spread the spoils of its ever-growing $11.2 trillion-plus economy and third most powerful military around Eurasia. By doing so, China gains deepening toeholds in parts of the world with prized natural resources and pacifies Western-supported countries that may otherwise oppose the expansion of Chinese influence.
