- President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday hailed the improving Philippines-China ties during a meeting with a delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) led by a close aide of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Malacañang said CPC Central Committee member Meng Xiangfeng and three other CPC leaders held talks with the President. They were accompanied by Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua and Chinese Embassy counselor Sun Yi. “The President reiterated ‘our desire and wish of the Filipino people that we make our bond stronger,’” a Malacañang statement said. “He further noted that the bond is ‘improving everyday.’
