Mr. Sta. Romana is a lecturer on China politics at the University of the Philippines Asian Center. He is a veteran Filipino journalist who lived and worked in China for more than three decades. He covered China as a broadcast journalist for ABC News (USA) from 1989 to 2010 and served as the ABC Beijing Bureau Chief. He has a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University in Massachusetts. He also has a Diploma in Chinese Language (Mandarin) from the Beijing University of Language and Culture. He completed his undergraduate studies in economics and business at De La Salle University. He has given briefings to senior government and military officials, as well to academia, media, business, and non-government organizations about China’s foreign and domestic policies. He has also been actively involved in promoting academic exchanges with Chinese universities and think tanks, and in exchanging views with Chinese scholars on issues in Philippines-China relations.
