Dr. Aileen San Pablo-Baviera

26 August 1959 - 21 March 2020

25 June 2025

Five years after her passing, we continue to honor and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Aileen San Pablo-Baviera—scholar, patriot, and peacemaker.

Dr. Baviera was a pioneering voice in Philippine foreign policy and China studies. As the founding president of the Asia-Pacific Pathways to Progress Foundation, Inc. (APPFI), she led efforts to build bridges across governments, academia, and civil society in the Philippines and the wider Asia Pacific. Her work fostered mutual understanding, strategic dialogue, and a strong commitment to peaceful cooperation in the region.

She combined deep academic insight with public service, serving as Dean of the UP Asian Center, adviser to the Philippine Navy, and policy expert for the Department of Foreign Affairs.

She was respected for her principled and balanced perspective on regional affairs—always placing the national interest at the forefront.

Even in her final years, Dr. Baviera focused on mentoring the next generation of scholars. She believed in the power of young minds to shape a better, more peaceful world.

Her passing in 2020 was a profound loss, but her vision continues to guide us. Today, we remember not only her contributions, but her quiet strength, grace, and dedication to lifelong learning.

We, at APPFI, remain committed to honoring her mission and passing on the values she championed.
